Mission of the Month - Each month RLC highlights one ministry to support financially in the name of Jesus: Using a green Mission of the Month offering envelope in the pew racks or on the table in the Narthex, financial offerings may be placed in the offering plate on Sunday or mailed to the church. Or use your regular offering envelope and indicate which option below you've selected.
December 2011 Mission of the Month - "Give More" Give a little extra, in celebration of the birth of Jesus, in one of 4 ways: 1) Individually to help a person or family in need at this time of year. 2) The work of the Lord in & through Resurrection Lutheran Church through the regular offering, 3) The Cairo Food Pantry 4) The Food Relief effort.
Work Groups to Assist Victims of Flood Damage - Teams of RLC members and friends will be working this week following the storm in Windham and other areas of Greene County to assist in various ways. If you'd like to help, please contact the church office (518-622-3286) for information about the current opportunity.
Operation Christmas Child - Shoeboxes filled with small items for children are filled and shipped around the world to those who receive nothing for Christmas. You may contribute by picking up items for young children that will fit in a shoe box: school supplies, hygene items, small toys or coloring books, candy, etc. Or fill an entire shoe box. Items may be brought to the church and placed in the gift box on the altar. For 2011, boxes were mailed the week of November 13.
LWML Mission & Service Projects - Many opportunities exist to serve others through this local LWML group (please click on LWML link on lefthand side of page).
Cairo Food Pantry - Volunteers may contact Stacey Poulsen at staceypouls@yahoo.com to help with regular and special food give-aways and preparation.
Community Recycling Program - Recycle with Greenfiver and raise money for the Foopd Pantry and reduce waste and conserve natural resources! Use the recycling dumpster next to our garbage dumpster. - Acceptable Items: Newspapers, Cereal boxes, Phone books, Magazines, Office paper, Brown paper bags, Cardboard, Construction paper. - Unacceptable Items: Glass, Aluminum, Metal, String, Plastic bottles, Styrofoam, Plastic bags, Food, Other household garbage.
